Sukhbinder Basra – Information Systems Officer
I am orginally from Mumbai -India. I graduated with Degree in Chemistry and a diploma in Computer Hardware Engineering from Mumbai University. I have worked with clients like Citibank, Singapore Airlines, Quantas Airways, etc as a resident Computer Hardware Engineer for 5-6 years In Mumbai.
After coming to UK in 1996, I studied Masters in Information Technology from De Montfort University, Leicester. Prior to this I did odd jobs with Marks and Spencers, Next Directory, etc.
I joined LDICN project of Leicester City Councilthis in June 2004. My role in this project is made up of:
1. Website and Consultation forms
- Designing, developing and maintaining ldicn website
- I also train people to create and edit pages on this website such as Partnership Board pages
- I create easy to understand survey questionnaires using images
2. Making written information easier to understand
Some recent examples of this work are:
- Leicester City Council’s Disability Equality Report and Action Plan,
- Revenue and Benfit Department’s – Housing and Council Tax benefit application form and the information booklet
- Leicestershire Constabulary Leaflets – How to keep your garages and sheds safe, Neigbourhood Policing, etc
Leicester Shire Promotions Ltd – A guide for business in and around Leicester on How to make yoyr services accessible to all
3. Creating interactive DVDs
- Researching for the information to be included on the DVD
- Struturing the flow of the information researched which is easier to undertsand
- Designing the flow of the information such as links and navigation
- Designing the layout, the menu buttons, etc

5. We as a team are responsible for the marketing and the promoting of the project
