Adult Social Care Transformation – Leicester City Council

Leicester City Council is changing the way it supports its customers

  • Putting the customers at the heart of its care services and
  • Giving the customers more choice and control

This change is called  - Adult Social Care Transformation

The changes are a result of Putting People First, a new directive from the Department of Health.

Putting People First recognises that care services need to be personalised as what suits one person won’t work for someone else.

For example, an elderly person needs help to get up, washed and dressed in the mornings and help to get ready for bed in the evenings.  They probably have home care at the moment to assist them, which is organised by the council.  However they may prefer to organise their own home care provider or pay a family member to help.

The transformation of adult social care will allow them to choose what works best for them, not the council.
