About the Partnership Board
A Learning Disability Partnership Board is a group of people from your local area. They meet
to decide what needs to happen to make the lives of people with learning disabilities better.
Our Partnership Board was set up in October 2001 as our first step towards making Valuing People happen in Leicester City. It is co- chaired by the Cabinet Lead Member for Adults and Communities and a person with a learning disability.
Valuing People is the Government White Paper on learning disabilities. It is based on recognising people’s rights as citizens, being part of the community, choice in their daily lives and opportunities to be independent. In 2009 Valuing People was updated with Valuing People Now.
